Conferencia 1

“From Methods to Postmethods and Complexity in the Language Classroom”

Resumen
Drawing on her experience as an EFL learner, teacher of EFL and ESL, and language teacher educator, Lía D. Kamhi-Stein will reflect on how her thinking about English language teaching has evolved over the years. She will discuss how Larsen-Freeman’s (1997; 2012) view of the language classroom as complex and dynamic is relevant in a postmethods era.

Conferencia 2

“Novice EFL Teachers in the Classroom: Coping with Challenges and Self-Expectations”

Resumen
Novice EFL teachers, like all teachers, are faced by a variety of challenges. These include, but are not limited to, the teacher’s action zone; classroom management strategies; language modification techniques; self-expectations about instructional practices; and institutional demands. Drawing on her extensive experience as an English language teacher educator, Lía D. Kamhi-Stein describes what she has learned about the challenges and engages the audience in a discussion of how to deal with the challenges.
